Gateway to the Bunya mountains. I get the feeling there is a tree called a Bunya tree. And from here I’ll infer that just up the road there is a mountain of these trees. But why they call it a Bunya, maybe we will never know.
Small town, 100 or so people. Friendly little stop behind a pub. Free camping. We went to finish the last day of schooling at the pub, and now we are done for the year! Not sure who is happier, the kids or the teachers. Kylie made up some awards to hand out to the kids. Touching ceremony really. All that hard work, sweat and tears, and that’s literally speaking, as there wasn’t always air con and I like to push my students. It’s not all maths and English, is also mental strength and character in my class.
We did go to a small creek before school, which had a small water fall at the moment. Turned out nice enough to swim in so we jumped in. There was some dude there that didn’t stop talking saying how nice it is that nobody’s there. I was thinking, you’re a somebody mate, a loud somebody. His dog even ran away from him. The dog was at the top of the stairs while we were coming down and tried to jump in our car almost saying “save me from old mate, he never shuts up!”. Had to drag the dog out of the back seat after it decided to jump in when the door opened.
There were quite a few turtles swimming around there as well, decent size for fresh water. Kids didn’t really want to leave which is always funny cause they really didn’t want to come here in the first place. Coomba waterhole, that’s what it is called. Short steep drive, short lots of stairs walk.
We did stop in Kingaroy on the way through to stock up. Pretty big town that probably services this wider region. Kids got some Pokemon cards again. Seb got a V in one pack.
Only two more set ups to go.
