20230914 Litchfield National Park day 2

Drove to Florence Falls and caught up with some fellow travels. Matt and Alicia. Mira is good friends with their eldest, Siena. Seb always feels forgotten when ever those two met up. Seb also seems to have some lump under his chin, appears to be a gland or something.

Anyways, the falls themselves was a nice short walk and the plunge pool was nice, water temp was refreshing, Goldilocks style. Seb braved it and came under the waterfall with me. Mira played with Siena for a while in the water until the two of them matched their blue swimmers.

We walked back along the shady Creek walk which was nice on the way back, even though it was twice as fast as the way we came, it avoided the 150 odd steps that we had came down on, but didn’t avoid the mosquitoes.

We had a small picnic when we got back to cars then drove on to Burley Pools. This was also quite nice and there was shade in the water. Short 250m walk to get there made this feel like good value, but there were lots of people here as well. Kids enjoyed jumping off a large boulder into the water, and then using smaller boulders to dive to the bottom. I slipped over onto my butt at one point trying to explore further down stream.

We then drove to Bachelor, small town about 40kms away from where we were to get some fuel and some supplies. Can’t say there was much to see but in fairness we didn’t stay long. Kids had a slushies, I drank a bit of them and we called the grandparents briefly from the payphone again.

Stopped at the termite hive or something in the way back. Pretty cool how these insects make their mounds, North South orientation to ensure one side is always in shade apparently. And then there is the cathedral termites because the mound looks like that cathedral in Barcelona.

Home time.
