Not a huge day driving, or is it? Who knows anymore. Bit of corrugation to get out of El Questro, pump tires up, drive to cockburn rest stop for wee wees. Stop at Kununurra, fuel and popcorn chicken again and groceries then another 70kms to lake Argyle. Kids onto their this book of Percy Jackson.
So essentially this is more of a damn than a lake I think but still seems like a nice place. Kids went for a swim in the infinity pool which is a bit cool. We did drive around a bit too see the lookouts and the hydro station.
Oh forgot, we went to the Durack homestead. It was built years ago, but was moved after the damn was built as it was all going to flood. So this was essentially the Ord and Bern? River and now it’s a big lake. Looks like lots of land went under. Cost $22 million back in the 70’s to make.
There were 3 green frogs and a bower bird making a nest. All sorts of weird things it’s collected to spice up his crib. Even a random key.
