Yesterday we had a chilled day at the caravan site. Kids played around the camp kitchen carting each other around on one off those trollies used to move boxes around. Seb started another fire and we did some school work
Today was a pretty big driving day again. We packed up and left before 8 and headed towards Halls Creek. Filled up and then headed to 182 Bridge Street. This is where the AOG aboriginal outreach church is. Right next door is a small building, the Kent Brose house. Kent was a family friend we met at the Aussie church we used to go to. Top bloke. Unfortunately, after delivering this demountable building, on his way back to QLD a car ran into his truck 27.6kms west of Cloncurry. I went and saw the plaque dedicating the house to his name. RIP Kent.
Next we drove to a rest stop, Spring Creek, to drop off the caravan and then hightail it into the bungle Bungles. Road in was pretty bad. About 53kms of corrugation and rocks. Kids were only happy cause they are now into the second book of Percy Jackson. Once we got to the visitor center there was another 23kms to “the domes” and “the cathedral”. That drive was no better. I didn’t factor in for this second slow drive and probably were a bit late getting out to set up some tents to rough it for the night. Kylie and the kids had a 3 man tent with a queen blow up mattress. I got the swag. Worked out well cause I needed an early sleep and the kids ended up watching a movie after dinner.
Kids loved the tent, and we’re jumping in there karate chopping pillows and jumping around like jumping jaks. Guess it is a bit of an adventure. Did get colder at night then I expected to be honest though.
