Early start not knowing what the road is gonna be like to travel the 80kms to Manning Gorge. Turned out to be freshly grated so was smooth sailing! Got to Barnett road House a tad early but got our day pass then drove 7kms to the start of the walk and the creek crossing.
Beautiful clear creek water that you have to jump into to cross. I brought a body board and some flippers so we wouldn’t have to wait for the communal bucket everyone was using. Super refreshing on a warning day. We trekked the 2.5kms to the gorge. Pretty impressive. Due to the unseasonal rain they had, the falls were apparently better than usual. We swam across jumped off the rocks and swam under the water falls. Had some lunch and headed back. Would have been nice to stay longer. However heaps of people. Because of the campers, they leave early to get there first.
Got back and kids found a rope swing which they loved. Headed back to the road House and got some lunch. I had the Barnett burger which was pretty good. Kylie got a barramundi burger. I tried some of hers, it was awesome. Never liked barramundi but this has changed my mind somewhat. Might try a few more around here.
Drove to Gavin’s gorge. Didn’t appear to be much. Bit of a small surprise, not as grand but still amazing. Best part, no one there for a while. Another rope swing and sitting under the waterfall. All gorged out for the day. And headed home.
This YouTube is the same as from yesterday. All three gorges are combined.
Got some stuff organized for the rough drive out tomorrow. I’ve come to terms I won’t be going fast. Just want to get out without and incidents. No rush.
