Took off early from the station and drove on sealed road to the turn off for tunnel Creek. Ditched the caravan and then done about 60kms to Tunnel Creek. Fair bit of corrugation.
The creek was a bit of an adventure. Needed a torch to explore our way to the other side. There was a section we had to swim through which was about 30m wide but about 15m couldn’t touch the bottom. After that it was some pretty cool caves with those things that hang down from the ceiling and bats and freshwater Crocs. There was a certain smell in the cave which was kinda nice. Hoping it wasn’t the bat droppings. Few cherubim as well (yabbies). We did also see a freshwater croc floating about. But they are mostly harmless.
After hustling back to the van, and creating a dust storm for some other campers, we hitched up and started the toward Marchfly Glen. People said this road was alright. But I don’t like corrugation. This was 80kms of pretty bad corrugation for my mind. Can say I didn’t like it. Lots of things fell inside and tap feel apart, the cooker had a few things fall apart.
I’m gonna let the tires down to 28. See if that helps tomorrow. Lots of people camping here and so many different opinions about how bad the road is. Same road different opinions. In my opinion it’s bad. Others say it’s been fine.
Had a little fire near a creek here. Lots of dirt for the kids to make a mess in. But that’s all part of the fun they say 🙂
