And 20230724 Dales Gorge
Pretty straight forward drive to Karijini. Pretty much the same drive we did to get to Hancock the other day. Went to the visitor center first. Kylie got a fridge magnet. Kids run around and annoyed me in the center as usual.
Went and set up site. Completed a bit of school work with the kids. There is no mobile service here at all so just got the kids to do whatever we could. They got some activity books from the visitor center so that was handy.
After that, decided to go for a walk to find lookouts not far from here. Unfortunately, from what we could work out, someone had had a heart attack and there was some CPR going on so we turned back as we didn’t really want the kids to see that. I asked a ranger the following day of he had made it, but he didn’t. Walking up the gorge exit the following day, could see how this may have occurred.
24th of July. Went for a walk to Dales gorge. Very scenic little walk about 3 and a half hours return although we did stop and have a swim followed by lunch. The swim was under a little waterfall which was refreshing. The water was no where near as cold as Hancock’s or Weano.
The dust is red, the dust is thick. Kylie is loving the kids playing in it and the new shade of faux timber Lino flooring in the van. To be fair, we think everything has adopted this new shade in some varying degrees. I’ve accepted our fate, Kylie is still on the journey to acceptance. We think the kids are either reacting to something in the red dirt or they have been in contact with something else because the have some reaction on their skin, mostly around ankles/lower leg and hands.
Stars at night are pretty amazing here, not much light pollution. And sunrises and sunsets are pretty spectacular. Pictures coming.
